VOLUNTEER

  • When you assist with a reuse center shift you will be in the center of it all, guided by our awesome Reuse Specialists in a variety of processing tasks. From rolling and detangling materials, to creating fun paper scrap packs, stocking our shelves, or processing beads and other donations, you'll be helping us give new life to these materials by keeping them out of the landfill! Have a special skill, or interested in helping with building or other special projects? Let us know!

You can sign up for a Reuse Center shift by using Hands on Nashville. Email volunteer@turnipgreencreativereuse.org for more information.

Since we have moved locations, we do not currently have consistent volunteer positions. Please stay tuned for this option to be available soon!

  • Whether you are studying Environmental Studies, Graphic Design, or Retail Management, are an aspiring Gallerist, Artist, or Social Enterprise Professional, there are ways to earn valuable career experience at Turnip Green!

Please fill out this form and someone from the team will contact you! Please note that our internships are unpaid opportunities.

  • Help our education team with community events, making creativity kits, and other special projects! Check out Hands on Nashville for current opportunities.

  • Join TGCR for a litter pick-up in our Chestnut Hill neighborhood! TGCR will provide gloves, trash grabbers, reflective vests, and trash bags. Participants will receive 1 beer token to use at Jackalope. Check our calendar for Pick Up for a Pint dates!

  • How to schedule for court-ordered hours:

If you are eligible, email volunteer@turnipgreencreativereuse.org with the following information:

    • Name and phone number

    • Number of hours needed

    • Availability

What to expect after reaching out:

    • Our Volunteer Coordinator will look at your availability and our current volunteer calendar.

    • Once our Volunteer Coordinator has approved your schedule request, an email will be sent to you, and you will be responsible for picking up available shifts via Hands On Nashville unless noted otherwise.

You can request a letter to verify your hours from a Volunteer Coordinator at the end of your service. You are responsible for giving the letter to your parole/probation officer or judge. Turnip Green Creative Reuse is not responsible for time served if you lose the letter. We won’t re-issue letters.

Volunteers with the following charges (past or present) are not eligible to complete their hours at Turnip Green Creative Reuse:

    • Theft of any kind

    • Sexual Assault or Misconduct of any kind

    • Violent crime of any kind

    SCHEDULING GUIDELINES

Shifts are at various times daily. You may only work your pre-scheduled shifts. When you arrive, you must check in with a Volunteer Coordinator, who will sign you in before you start working in order for your hours to count.

    • If you are running late or unable to attend for your shift, you must notify the Volunteer Coordinator via email, or calling our Reuse Center.

    • After 30 minutes of your schedule shift, you are at risk of losing your shift.

    • After 3 no-shows or late shifts, the Volunteer Coordinator has the ability to consider you non-eligible for future shifts.

Any Turnip Green Creative Reuse staff member is authorized to dismiss you if you do not follow directions. A dismissal means you’ll be asked to leave immediately and you won’t be eligible to receive credit for hours worked, or eligible to volunteer at Turnip Green Creative Reuse again.

    For more information, email volunteer@turnipgreencreativereuse.org.

  • Volunteers are invited to serve from home by helping sort, process and package materials!

    Email volunteer@turnipgreencreativereuse.org for more information!

*While this is an at home position, this task does require pick-up and drop off of take-home kits to and from Turnip Green.
